Research, Education and Scholarship
Since the English philosopher, Sir Francis Bacon, first introduced his theory of inductive reasoning to the scientific community in the late 16th century, his approach has been the cornerstone of modern science and is synonymous with the development of the scientific method. Today, over 400 years later, we continue to celebrate the fruits of this methodology. Under the auspice of MSU/KCMS, the medical and scientific community of Kalamazoo has assembled some outstanding works that highlight our achievements and contributions to science. In commemorating these accomplishments, the Kalamazoo Research Day also recognizes the unique and integrated approach among university, industry and medical professionals that has prospered in our community. It is our hope that this symbiotic relationship will remain an intricate part of our research endeavors and continue to be the gold standard for other communities of scientists and physicians.
Institutions of renowned repute have always based their education in research involving faculty and students alike. The Kalamazoo Research Day is a special occasion for all as it celebrates our commitment to excellence and scholarship. Scholarship, a well-recognized academic activity since Renaissance times, represents this goal, which we need to achieve to reach standards of excellence in research and educational activities. During the conference, we will apply and utilize scientific principles to teach medical residents and students, of all disciplines, the importance of mastering research techniques necessary in today's society.
The Kalamazoo Community Medical and Health Sciences Research committee welcomes you in the pursuit of goals conducive to the highest standards in research, education and scholarship.
