Community Mental Health
Kalamazoo County has a sophisticated community mental health center with several problem-focussed Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) teams, crisis stabilization facilities, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy program for clients with borderline personality disorder, and medication clinics. All this is designed to keep clients functioning optimally in the community outside of the hospital as much as possible. CMH also serves as the gatekeeper for Medicaid funding and hospital admissions. Residents will have a longitudinal experience working with CMH during their PGY-3 year.
Hope Network
Residents are on-site at this 14-bed crisis stabilization unit, Kalamazoo Community Mental Health run, facility Monday through Friday. Residents do intake evaluations, crisis counseling, and make daily rounds with the attending psychiatrist, and participate in team meetings during their PGY-2 year.
