I have had 14 years of experience in clinical medicine. My prior experience was in Flint, Michigan with an office and hospitalist internal medicine practice. During my 7 years in Flint, I was very involved in teaching medical students, interns and residents. I was the program director for the Internal Medicine Residency for 2 years and also ran several educational didactic sessions. Teaching has always been a priority for me which is why I did a faculty development fellowship my first year in practice.
In 2003, KCMS was approved for an Osteopathic rotating internship. By 2004, we were also approved for dually accredited family medicine residency and dually accredited internal medicine residency. We have goals of developing more osteopathic programs in the future. We look forward to bringing osteopathic education to the Kalamazoo area. I believe in patient-focused care and hands-on learning. With the resources available to us in Kalamazoo and with two outstanding hospitals as support, we can offer an outstanding and well-rounded internship.
