Block Conference
1
  A half-day conference. Lectures covering all internal medicine disciplines. Subspecialists lecture as well as instruct residents in hands-on demonstrations, e.g., central line insertions.
Board Review
  1
Based on MKSAP. A comprehensive review of all internal medicine subspecialties.
Clinical Pathological Conference (CPC)
  1
Cases presented in a style similar to the NEJM. Residents study assigned cases and defend their diagnoses to faculty. CPCs emphasize the learning process rather than errors or omissions.
EKG Conference
  1
EKG reading sessions conducted by cardiology/ electrophysiology attendings. Emphasis is on recognition of EKG pattern readings, interpretation of rhythm strips and the physiology behind tracings.
Grand Rounds
  2
Didactic lecture series with nationally known speakers.
Infectious Diseases Conference
    Case-based lectures presented by specialists.
Journal Club
  1
A structured, case-based literature review presented during Morning Report.
MSU College of Osteopathic Med – Statewide Campus System
  1
Required for Osteopathic interns and residents. A day-long conference covering clinical topics and procedural skills, including osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM).
Morbidity & Mortality
  1
Interactive conferences reviewing autopsy, biopsy and/or surgical pathology cases. Involves all medicine disciplines. Educational focus is positive (learning from previous cases) rather than negative (pointing out errors).
Morning Report

  Interactive, case-based conferences presented by senior residents.
Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM)

Required for Osteopathic interns and residents. Training sessions in osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM).

Teaching Rounds

  Bedside, case-based rounds. Attending faculty person critiques residents' physical exam skills and ability to present pertinent patient information.
