Perinatal Services - High Risk Obstetrics Elective (OGR 610)

Basic Obstetrics/Gynecology Clerkship (OGR 608)

Objectives

Upon completion of the elective the student should

• Know the principles of management of high risk obstetrics
• Be familiar with the management of medical and surgical complications of pregnancy

Students are assigned to the Perinatology Service and round with the perinatologists, follow patients on Labor and Delivery and assist with deliveries. The elective offers the opportunity for extensive experience in obstetrical ultrasound and ultrasonically guided procedures such as amniocentesis and fetal blood sampling. During the elective, the student will research and write a paper developing an in-depth assessment of an approved topic.
